Lady Jaye's FLUX and Voices in Your Head's LIGHTS were chosen as 2 of 15 albums of RARB's Picks of the Year for 2016! I'm honored for two projects so close to my heart to see this kind of reception.
Leigh Holmes Foster says about FLUX, "Whatever you do, don't miss out on the music that Lady Jaye is making. To me, this album stands out by far as the most real from the works I reviewed in 2016. There's so much honesty in Lady Jaye's music, and it makes for powerful listening." Robert Dietz says about LIGHTS, "One of my all-around favorite collegiate albums that I've ever reviewed. Inventive arranging anchors top-notch solo performances, with fantastic original songs to take it over the top!" AND, Run for Cover's Gold was chosen as the Single of the Year. "Run for Cover has delivered our choice for Single of the Year with its version of the Adventure Club (ft. Yuna) EDM track Gold. The arrangement by Ahon Sarkar is intriguing and complex, creating a song that is full of creativity and movement. What started out as an experiment for Sarkar developed into an amalgam of talent, production and collaboration once it went into the studio. Initially there was some concern in choosing a group with a guest soloist as Single of the Year. But Kari Wei's solo made us forget all about that by living inside this song and evoking all of the emotion of the original. The track is indeed the gold standard of a cappella for 2016." Many congratulations and thanks to my many collaborators in 2016 - we made some fantastic music together. Here's to more in 2017!

InTransit, the new a cappella musical, is coming to Broadway! Check out the promo video below, and you may hear a familiar voice... ;)
I am ROLLING. My middle school decided I was worthy of the Wall of Fame, and it's literally a childhood dream come true.
It's funny to suddenly remember all of Tiny Bri's expectations of what being on this wall meant, and how that related to success. I'm very honored and passionate to be working every day at being the kind of role model Tiny Bri could learn and grow from. And it's only been 7 years since I graduated from this district! There is so much left to do. The plaque says: "Reach for the Stars. 'Ah, but a man's reach should exceed his grasp. Or what's Heaven for?' -Robert Browning 1855. to recognize the accomplishments and celebrate the successes of former Franklin students as they aspire to careers in the Arts. May they serve as a shining source of inspiration to all who follow." ![]() What a fun, nerdy weekend at AES 2016! I won a Benchmark DAC, breathed the same air as Stevie Wonder, partied at United Recording, swallowed words of wisdom from the likes of Andrew Scheps, Leslie Ann Jones, Jimmy Douglass, Neal Pogue, and more, and first heard about the Women's Audio Mission. It's all got me thinking! Loved it, and thankful to be part of this community.
I'm incredibly honored to have had several personal projects recognized in this year's Contemporary A Cappella Recording Awards!
Lady Jaye's "Rocket" won the award for Best Hip-Hop/R&B Song (our second year in a row! - last year "Drunk in Love" won), and our arranger for that track, the amazing Christopher Diaz, also took home Best Arrangement for a Non-Scholastic Group for it! And from the same FLUX album, "Life Round Here" was nominated in the category of Best Electronic/Experimental Song. My summer project, "Work It Out," won runner-up for Best Collaborative / Studio Project Song - congrats to my sisters Sam Creighton, Shubha Vedula, Malia Civetz, and Jada Banks-Mace! And finally, "XO," the track I arranged/produced/sang with The Women's A Cappella Association (featuring ARORA, Honey Whiskey Trio, The LoveNotes, Vocal Rush, and more) was nominated for both Best Professional Arrangement for a Non-Scholastic Group and Best Collaborative / Studio Project Song. So exciting to hear all the nominees and winners - I've got lots of new music to listen to. Many thanks to the Contemporary A Cappella Society for your work and acknowledgement! Nominees: http://www.casa.org/cara2016n Winners: http://www.casa.org/cara2016w I already covered a lot of my FEELINGS in a series of Insta posts earlier this month (start here), so we'll try to stick to facts in this post.
WACA Vol. III was just released! Two of my pet projects, Lady Jaye's "Q.U.E.E.N." and WACA's "XO" (two tracks that I arranged/tracked/edited, and the latter of which I mixed), are featured, as well as LA-based Premiere's "All of Me" (tracked/edited/mixed)! And fun fact: Lady Jaye has the true honor of being the only group featured on all 3 volumes of this compilation! Check out the compilation here: Spotify | iTunes | Amazon Also, had the best weekend at SheSings 2016 tracking the new collaboration track, teaching a songwriting workshop, sitting on a baller all-female studio production panel (how often do we see those?!), and witnessing the talents of Women of the World (and thanks to them, also birthday-boy-Bobby McFerrin), Divisi (who are headed to ICCA Finals!), Vocal Rush (who are about to put out a siiiick new album), and many more. Many thanks to the Women's A Cappella Association for all they do!! So cool to have 3 pieces I worked on featured on Voices Only Forte V: The Funx's "Save It For Another Day" (co-wrote), Lady Jaye's "Citizens" (tracked/edited), and the Women's A Cappella Association's "XO" (arranged/tracked/edited/mixed). Check them out, and congrats to all my featured friends as well!
The album is available on: iTunes, Spotify, Voices Only Store
Was just playing around on my looping board and thought I'd put something up since it's been a MINUTE since I posted an original song...
The first track off my band Lady Jaye's new album FLUX, "Life Round Here" is featured on the 2015 edition of the Contemporary A Cappella Society's annual compilation album, sing 12: This Big! Arranged/recorded/edited by Bri Holland, mixed by James Gammon, mastered by Vocal Mastering.
Also featured is "Givin' Em What They Love" - a track that I arranged/recorded/edited for my alum group, Men in Drag! Mixed by Ed Boyer, mastered by Vocal Mastering. Can't wait to listen to the whole album! My band Lady Jaye's album is finally here! Check out FLUX on Loudr and iTunes!
Thank you, first and foremost, to my sisters, Ariel, Selame, Happiness, and Samantha. I love you all so dearly, and I'm over the MOON about what we've made together. I've grown so much from knowing you and creating this with you, and you inspire me every day. Thank you to our guest arrangers Rob Dietz and Christopher Diaz for nailing our vibe and intent, as well as our mixers James Gammon, Steve Goldman, Ted Trembinski, and Dave Sperandio for bringing our sound and visions to life! (Double thanks to Christopher for the sexy guest artist appearance, and to Dave [of Vocal Mastering] for the album master!) Thank you to Will Russell and The Jeff Love Band for collaborating with us on the final track of the album, and for an amazing recording session! You killed it!! Thank you to all the people who have influenced me as a person, as a musician, and as a producer throughout the conception and making of this album. So many people freely gave their time, attention, and perspective as we moved through each phase, and I'm grateful to every one of you. And finally, thank you ALL for sharing in this experience with us! We're so honored to have such amazing and supportive fans, friends, and families (and Kickstarter donors!), and we can't wait to hear what you think!!
I've been checking out Accent's #MultitrackChallenge this week and gave it my own spin! Check out my short cover of Destiny's Child's Amazing Grace. I sang all the parts in one take, with no breaks, and without hearing any of the parts played back - just the metronome. I challenge everyone to make their own! #AccentChallenge

WHEW! The Find Your Voice original a cappella songwriting competition is a wrap for 2015! It's been a lot over the past few months to conceptualize, plan, organize, and cultivate this competition (Amanda Newman et al of Varsity Vocals - I salute you). Through The Vocal Company (and with substantial help from Danny Olefsky, Mel Daneke, Ted Trembinski, and others), 22 groups answered my call for original a cappella music: The prizes included a songwriting consultation with hitmaker Tat Tong, a collaboration on an original song with members of world-touring vocal group The Exchange (as seen on NBC's The Sing-Off), and a fully-produced all-originals EP. We got some amazing entries, and our finalists came down to The Dons (UK), vocaldente (Germany), Honey Whiskey Trio (US), The Vassar Devils (US), and Ginger & Tonic (Australia).
These finalists were judged by Deke Sharon (of Pitch Perfect, The Sing-Off, etc), Avi Kaplan (of Pentatonix), and Ingrid Andress (of Universal / Arthouse Ent. / Sea Gayle Music, Delilah, etc). There was also an online audience voting percentage of the final score. In the end, The Vassar Devils claimed victory! Congratulations and thank you to all involved! I look forward to hearing more original music out of every competitor!
