I had this song stuck in my head all day on Saturday as millions of people around the country and world marched for women, for black lives, for immigrants, for freedom, for love. There is no one person who I've seen so deeply embody those values as much as Lisa Forkish. I'm truly honored to work on music that means so much, for a person who loves so hard. "Love Warrior" is an anthem full of passion, and Lisa's words and songwriting are so relatable and universal that I believe every listener will connect and sing along.

This project started while I was still living in Columbus, OH and concluded around my 1-year anniversary of living in Los Angeles, and I'm so happy to have shared this journey with them. XOXO RV is that special combination of immense talent, passion, and love for singing and each other. From Megan Gaumond's arrangements, to Julia Ramos's beatboxing, to all of these soloists' ranges and flexibilities in different styles, to every single woman's drive and the energy she put into her performances on this album and behind the scenes - it all comes together as "essentially RV." Take a listen, feel great, and encourage these women to make more recordings, plz.

It was a ball recording/producing these tracks with you, and I'm stoked for you on your success! Cheers!

Special shout-outs to the artists I've been hashtag blessed to work with on their music: Track IX ("Hello Bitches") and Vocal Rush ("Memento"). And another shout-out to my alum group Voices in Your Head for "Feel So Bad"! Check out the track list here. And the purchase the album here: Loudr | iTunes This year for the Women's A Cappella Association's annual festival, SheSings, I was asked to produce an anthemic collaborative track. Most of the groups performing at the festival, as well as much of the staff, came together to record Lisa Forkish's powerful arrangement of Joy Williams' original "Woman (Oh Mama)." The result celebrates all aspects of womanhood. Check it out, and support WACA in the process!

WACA: website | FB page | FB group | Twitter "Woman (Oh Mama)": Loudr | iTunes 2016 was the 5-year anniversary of FReestyle, the a cappella sumer camp that I founded and direct at my former high school in Murrysville, PA. These students touch my heart and alter my perspective every time we communicate, and I'm so grateful to them for their genuine curiosity, empathy, and compassion. What a special, impactful year it was.
But it was also a tumultuous year, and we need "Change" now more than ever. The chorus of the song talks about waiting, but this is no time to be idle. The young women and men who sang this song are some of the most empowered to enact change in their communities, and I so look forward to seeing what they do with that power. All proceeds of this track will go towards FReestyle 2017, so please check it out and support the arts! Track IX is one of the beastly-est, boss-est beatboxers I've ever worked with. She just dropped her EP, Kiss My Mama, featuring her single, a cover of CL's "Hello B*tches". Check out the music video below and stay tuned for the rest of her video releases to come!
(Music engineered and produced by Bri Holland) Track IX: YouTube | Facebook Very proud of the groups who made it on to the Voices Only 2016 compilation album. I recorded and edited "Blind" by Vocal Rush (written by Imani Wilson) and "Gold" by Run for Cover, and recorded "Single/Acappella" by Eleventh Hour. And shout out to my alum group, Voices in Your Head, on "Feel So Bad" (written by Shubha Vedula and Chris Rishel)!
Get the album HERE! Some of my absolute favorite memories of recording sessions came from tracking Jews on First? with The University of Chicago's Rhythm & Jews. I feel like I really got the sense of the character that each person plays in the group, and it's an overwhelming joy to hear it all come together. This album is such a good time - check it out.

I love these people to pieces, and they truly poured all of themselves into this album - heir hearts, souls, and talents. Special shout out to Kari and Will, who worked so hard to bring their visions to life (as I know the entire group did), as well as to make this group somewhere everyone can feel safe. Also to Shubha and Piper, who both have original songs on this album! And finally of course, to Chris, who has influenced much more than just the music we've made.

All eleven tracks are original songs written by the group members, arranged by a combination of the group and their brilliant director, Lisa Forkish. It was so very special to be part of bringing these students' visions to life and exploring a bit of studio writing, arranging, and production with them. These songs are at once very personal and very universal, and I'm proud to have been part of this project. Check it out, and stay tuned for whatever they do next!

Vocal Rush: Facebook | Twitter | YouTube 11: Loudr | iTunes | Amazon | Spotify Men in Drag's newest album launches with "Givin Em What They Love," a track originally by Janelle Monáe featuring the late and great Prince. Stepping back for a moment, the first song Men in Drag ever performed together back in 1997 was actually Prince's "7." His influence has been strong on the group since its founding. "We are gathered here today 2 get through this thing called life." With every warm-up, rehearsal, performance, and "MiD flower," Men in Drag is a group of friends, a support system, and a reciprocated vessel of love, and with this album they're inviting you in to a glimpse of their relationships.
Medusa Complex spans a few different generations and iterations of Men in Drag. It includes two songs from the group's first-ever ICCA set back in 2013 and influences from all types and genres of artists. I'm not here to write a review, but I'm immensely proud of the art they're sharing with the people in their world, and I believe there is something for everyone to enjoy. "Like books and black lives, albums still matter." This one speaks to my heart.
